PLACE


Cali has too many places you can visit like museums and city parks, one of them is Farallones’s park. Also have monuments, and touristic routes.

 You will find enough things to do, entertainment; you will find Cali’s Zoo, museums like Gold’s Calima Museum, Archeological Museum La Merced, San Francisco’s Religious and Colonial Museum, Carajo’s Museum, Modern Arts Museum La Tertulia, Cane’s Museum, Departmental Museum of Natural Sciences “Federico Carlos Lehmann Valencia and Museum of Natural history.




At the Zoo you will find too many types of animals like amphibians like frogs, primates like monkeys, only Colombian monkeys, and reptiles like crocodiles, African animals like zebras, cats and bears.  If you have the opportunity to visit Zoo you will find among jungle lots of birds owners of the region and finally the aquarium, indeed are 10 aquariums with sea water and 9 with fresh water (rivers, lakes, etc) and too much more animals.     


             

STAGES


NATURAL

Los Farallones National Natural Park: located 20 minutes from the city of Cali on the Cordillera Occidental, in one of the most biodiversity areas on the planet. You can practice ecotourism and environmental walks.

Calima Lake: Dam built for the people to the side of Darien an hour and a half of Cali in the road to Buenaventura, is one of the sites preferred by Colombians because you can practice sailing.


HISTORIC-CULTURAL 

The hermitage: if you decide preying you can do it in the colonial la Merced church which was the first temple built in Cali, here conducted the first catholic mass in the city in 1536.

Mountain of the tree crosses: These gigantic crosses protect the city and from there you should see an excellent view of the City, and is a place where you can climb the hill on foot at times of pilgrimage during Holy Week.

Statue of Christ the king: A giant image located at the top of the mountain Crystals. It is 26 meters high. Where you can walk up and enjoy a traditional road which has turned this area into a fun nightspot.

Cali’s Tower: You may stay in the hotel which is the tallest tower in the city and admire the view.


 
MUSEUMS

Gold Museum: You can increase your knowledge about one of the most important museums in the country which preserves archaeological evidence of main pre-Columbian civilizations of Colombia, the Calima Culture and gold.

Lightning museum - Roldanillo: In the municipality of Roldanillo on the road that leads to Pereira is located the museum ray that has a valuable collection of Master Ray and other Colombian artists.

Modern art museum of the tertulia - Cali: You may come to modern architecture which has conference room, film library and outdoor theater.

National Transport Museum: This museum exhibits a variety of means of transport that everybody can admire from airplanes, helicopters, to classic, vintage and nowadays cars.
 
PARKS

Plaza de Caicedo: You should come and know more about the place has been the center of the city from its foundation.

Aqua Park of the cane - Cali: The Park covers an area of 150 thousand meters. It has several pools, including waves, with water slides and multiple fields.

Artisan park loma de la Cruz - Cali: located in the most traditional city, where more than 60 exhibitors come together and can offer a variety of crafts.

Municipal zoo: Located west of the city crossed by the Rio Cali, you can enjoy of a full natural environment with exotic animals besides being the only one in Colombia with aquarium.

FAIRS AND FESTIVALS

Cali’s fair: is a great cultural event that you should not miss, as it gives room for one of the most important bullfighting season in Latin America, also famous for the Salsa marathon, horse riding parades dance parties and sporting events. The Fair has been celebrated since 1957, from December 25 to December 30, and it promotes cultural, ethnical, and musical diversity in the region. In a few occasions the Fair included Vallenato and Merengue groups from Colombian and surrounding Caribbean countries, and samba schools from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Also, the Fair is known as the "Feria de la Caña" (sugar cane fair) and "Feria de la salsa" (Salsa music fair). People can enjoy many activities like an opening cabalgata (parade of horseback riders), tascas, salsa concerts, bullfights, parades, athletic activities and cultural exhibitions.

Cali World Salsa Festival: festival that begins in the month of September where you can enjoy the best of the most representative dance of the city with the presence of salsa dancer’s worldwide.

Cali has an area of 21,195 km 2 being less than the Australian surface which has a total area of 7,686,850 km²

Population:
Australia: has a population of about 21. 874. 900 bigger than Cali’s one because of this is only have an approximate population of 2,730,000 habitants and it’s the third most populous city in our country.

Weather
 Australia: is the driest habited country and plain in the world, and the one that less fertile soils have. The average temperature goes from 23 to 26 ° being quite similar to Cali’s climate which is tropical savannah with an average temperature of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius.

Hydrography
Cali: The city's main river is the river Cauca, which has 1,350 km in length and y is one of the most important rivers in Colombia. Although it’s smaller than the Darling River in Australia which is born in Queensland and that covers 2.736 km.

Taste :P

First, we have to take into account that Cali has  sugar tradition in delicious deserts.
If we talk about food, we have to start by Buga.  Buga stands out  for the cream, thick sugar and milk cream.


 Palmira offers its caspiroletas prepared with eggs, wine, cinnamon and syrup.



As for salty desserts there are aborrajados and pandebonos.




For lunch, each town offers its own version of Sancocho valluno and as a soft drink there is the Champus (sweet corn and fruit drink)


MUSIC :)


Basically Cali’s music is Salsa and Merengue, we will show you some groups of this genres.
Grupo niche
Salsa group, founded in 1978 in Bogotá, now based in Cali. It’s one of the most famous groups of salsa all over the country. Was founded by Jairo Varela who is the director’s band. Also he is author of the majority of their songs.
Their most famous song are Gotas de lluvia, Una Aventura and others.

La 33
Exclusive from Bogotá, since 2001, more recognized by their song La Pantera Mambo. Something curious about this band is that they haven’t a famous label but they have been recognized in festivals and they sold many records regardless the famous label.

Guayacan Orchestra
Original from Quibdo, Colombia, its director, Alexis Lozano worked with Jairo Varela in Niche before found his own group Guayacan.They compose anthem song of Cali’s Faire, “oiga, mire, vea”.

What can you do in 24 hours?

Here, you can find everything about Cali in this blog.
First, you are going to ask what you can do in 24 hours and here we have the answer.
Well. You can start with a long walk around the center of the city.  There, you can visit museums and theatres. Also, you can visit San Antonio and Granada neighborhood. It offers a touristic attractive because of its architecture, geography and good restaurants. So, we recommend you to have breakfast in these restaurants.
Near the center of the city are Cali River and Colombia Avenue, which offer a very nice path for walking with stops in the museum of modern art, the fountain and the park , the bridge Ortiz, the church's chapel and the Tower of Cali, among many others.
On the other side, you can go to “Cerro de Cristo Rey” (similar to Brazil) which has on its top an effigy of 26m height with open arms. It offers a beautiful panoramic view of Cali.
Later, you can go to the south of the city. It has many shopping centers like Palmetto, Cosmocentro,  Limonar Unicentro, Holguin and Garden Trade Center Plaza. Then, we recommend you to have lunch.
At night, we recommend you to go out with your friends to spend a good time in the north of the city. There is the “Sixth Avenue” that is famous for its nightclubs and discos.
